Facts
- TUT was founded as an engineering college in 1918 and acquired university status in 1936.
- TUT is one of the largest universities in Estonia and has over 12 000 students and a staff of 1850 (incl. affiliated institutions).
- The University offers engineering and economics diploma, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programmes.
- The colours of TUT are steel grey and deep red. Grey symbolizes the toughness of our student body, cerise symbolizes joy and willingness to do something.
- These colours are used on the flag and the hat of university – the grey colour symbolizes our students’ determined pursuit for knowledge, the white stands for peace, progress and high morality, and the red colour shows optimism, activeness and impatience.
- Watchword of TUT is “Mente et manu” that means with sense and hand.
